What to Expect
Dr. Powers takes the time to discuss and listen to Westlake Village and Long Beach patients about what they want to accomplish with a facial/neck procedure and to assess their physical needs. Her goal is to renew your appearance while keeping a proportional, natural balance. She will also advise you about the outcome benefits as well as the risks/possible complications of facial surgery.
Facelift incisions start in the temple in front or inside of the hairline and continue in front and behind the ear. Another incision is may be necessary under the chin to remove fat and tighten muscles. Facial scars heal well and are not usually noticeable. Mini-facelift incisions are less extensive than facelift incisions and may be performed in the office under local anesthesia with sedation for the proper candidate.
Westlake Village and Long Beach patients can have the procedure performed on an outpatient basis or Dr. Powers may advise and overnight stay in a post-operative care facility. She uses general anesthesia to provide you greater comfort with board certified anesthesiologists. She will advise you about what you can expect from your surgery during your consultation and pre-operative appointments.
About Recovery
Immediately following surgery, your face/neck may be swollen with no to minimal bruising. This can last for several days to weeks after your facelift. You should also expect to have some residual swelling for several months after your procedure. Scars typically fade in about 6-8 months, but may take up to 1 year.
Each patient varies, but the results of your surgery should last for 5-10 years, after which time the natural aging, health problems, stress, and lifestyle choices will take their toll. Dr. Powers can assess and then provide you with recommendations for revisional facial procedures.
